2004-09-01 [Paul Doyle]: I am not a big Anime fan (though I certainly do not dislike high-quality Anime styles) but at first glance so much of it seems to be forged. One time I proposed a separate Anime gallery on the Elfwood LJ rant, but I got shot down like you wouldn't believe. :S
2004-09-01 [Leara]: its all art, that would be liked saying western comic style should have its own gallery also. :P A lot of it is either copied from pre existing images, or...artist don't develop their own style, a lot of images on deviant art and elfwood look like they were drawn by the same artist, when they were done by different ones, because people focus to much on doing one style, like that of CLAMP for example, because it's popular. Many people look at this art and wow it...I'm quite frankly not impressed what so ever, it's not original. When someone can see one of your images, and know it's yours, and done by you alone because of the style, then it becomes your own individual style.

2004-09-01 [HiddenFire]: I went through a phase where I wanted to draw anime, but I could never get the hang of it. I just could not leave everything stylized that way, It looks wrong when you're drawing it. Or at least when I'm drawing it. Anime has now just become one of the MANY styles that have contributed to my own. To me good anime is all about the details. I do not like it when anime is heavily simplified. I like things like 'Ghost in the shell', 'Cowboy Beebop', 'Blue Sub 6', and others that contain high amounts of detail. Yes I know there are others, my memory is just very poor and I can't remember names that well. @.@

I've no plans drawing Anime people yet (I want to get somewhat competent at drawing realistic human faces first), but the idea of having Chibi Jak'edrac and Chibi Jul'eweisa (the two main dragon characters from my forthcoming novel sequence, and the subjects of a few drawings) is irrestistible.
